MRRC Student Community
The Mississippi River Research Consortium recognizes the importance of students in our organization. We strive to support students who are pursuing a career in natural resources and encourage students to present their work at our annual meeting as a poster or oral presentation. The annual meeting is a great way to interact with other students and professionals in the field and to gain valuable feedback and knowledge through the poster sessions and oral presentations each year. We encourage students to participate in the poster sessions, the platform presentation sessions and the networking and career building workshops. We also encourage students to attend the annual meeting of the membership which takes place on the last day of the conference annually and partake in shaping the future of the consortium.
Student scholarship award
MRRC holds an annual raffle to raise funds to support student scholarships. Recipients are awarded $200 and certificate of award at the annual conference which can be used to defray the costs associated with attending the conference or to support academic success however the recipient may see fit. These scholarship awards wouldn’t be possible without the generous donations from fellow MRRC members and local vendors and robust member purchase of raffle tickets at the annual meeting.

student engagement: Annual ice cream social
The student section hosts an ice cream social at The Pearl Ice Cream Parlor & Confectionary at 207 Pearl Street, in downtown La Crosse, just across from the Radisson. This is a great opportunity to meet other students, socialize and network in an informal setting. Check the annual meeting program for details on the date and time of the annual ice cream social!
